FAQ
Here is some information you may find helpful
What is Zumba Fitness?
Zumba Fitness is a party. It is for all of us who have always wanted to workout but pretty much hated it.
It is latin-dance-inspired aerobics classes geared to have fun and burn tons of calories. Though many might describe it as “salsa” it is so much more… in face we take our latin-inspired moves and incorporate hip-hop, world and modern dance to make it fun, fun, fun!
We also use anything from soul to hip-hop, techno-pop to reggaeton and even some indie rock for our classes.
Check out YouTube to find clips from classes all over the world… but don’t be intimidated if it looks tricky (I like to watch the folks in the back of the class on those clips).
I Won’t be Able to Do It!
The great thing about Zumba is that anyone can do it!
As long as you’re moving and having fun, each participant can make adjustments to her routine (even take it down a notch or two if need be).
We have everyone from teenagers to octogenarians all in the same class… all moving, working hard and having a blast!
You’ll be amazed at how much fun you’ll have and how familiar you get with the steps by even your second class.
How many calories can I burn during a Zumba class?
The number of calories each person burns per class varies. However, depending on your body parameters (type, composition, intensity, range of motion), you can burn hundreds of calories per class.
That’s like running five miles on a treadmill, but a heckuva lot more fun.
What to Wear
Be ready to move and sweat!
Any workout or aerobics attire will work… it’s not a fashion show ladies… just be comfortable and free to move.
What are the best shoes to wear in a Zumba class?
Zumba Fitness recommends that you wear “cross training” or “aerobic” style shoes. They provide the cushion and medial lateral support needed for side-to-side movements. They also have low traction rubber for easy sliding and turning. Please be careful with “running shoes” since they use a heavy tread on the bottom and are designed for forward movement.
When to Arrive
Classes will generally start right at the designated time. That means when the clock strikes, we’ll be dancing! Come a few minutes early to make sure you’re ready to move on time. (If you happen to run a few minutes late… just jump right in!)
